“Once you’re over the hill you begin to pick up speed”
-Charles M. Schulz
Spirit of the Young at Heart Don’t Act Your Age is a show about three 60+ men, Gino, Derek and Cliff, who are traveling across Canada on a voyage of self-discovery, exploring the lives of seniors engaged in exciting second careers, reinventing themselves, following their life-long passions, and pursuing their dreams.
Our three dynamic hosts will demonstrate through their adventures their belief in the spirit of giving and community involvement, and in the adage, “it’s not over until it’s over.” They volunteer their services as handymen for a project in each community, and also take in the local culture, characters, and the flavor of the communities they visit. Our hosts, like many seniors, have overcome health issues: Gino has two artificial hips, Derek had spinal fusion surgery, and Cliff had a cardiac arrest.
Yet instead of settling down in rocking chairs on the front porch, they are excellent role models for seniors, and people of any age, as they set out for adventure – three musketeers ready to experience the worlds and exciting lives of seniors across this country.
Aimed at the 50+ age group, a large and growing segment of society making up about 38% of the Canadian population, a relatively untouched group in terms of entertainment marketing. A show by seniors, about seniors, Don’t Act Your Age is fast-paced, human-interest entertainment, with an inspiring and positive message it will appeal to adventurers of any age who want to experience the lives of people who are living their dreams.
Each show will be recorded in a different location in a small community or city across Canada. The seniors, culture, and unique qualities of each community will be showcased, for example, Port Stanley Ont., Moose Jaw, Sask., Mount Orford, Quebec.

Gino brings a wealth of knowledge of home reno and products to the show gained from his former careers as a general foreman for an international rug and tile installation company, experienced stone cutter, and owner/manager of a grocery store. He is also a professional butcher and loves to cook authentic Italian food, which just might come in handy on the show as host of the mini-segment “Gino’s Gastronomique”.

Cliff has consistently maintained his singing and songwriting activities, recently releasing his 7th album on CD.

These aired on CBC, Global, PBS, USA, Discovery, and LifeTime. DIY is his hobby and he gained much of his experience doing it for himself and by picking the brains of the staff at the local home build- ing center. Derek loves good food and while he doesn’t “do stoves.” Gino hopes to teach him how to cook (or at least to BBQ)
